The art projects consist of neon light, projections, light paintings, video installations, sound art, and theater, among other things.
The light art project COLLUMINA is a free exhibition format in public spaces in and with selected locations in Cologne. As a platform for light art, COLLUMINA offers this art form a temporary presence in the city free of access restrictions and at the same time illuminates unusual places in the city. Visitors are guided to the art projects via an app. Established artists and pioneers of light art are shown alongside younger generations of artists. The projects are designed using various techniques, including neon light, LED, projection, and Video mapping.
The initiator and artistic director of COLLUMINA is art historian and gallery owner Dr. Ralf Seippel, who established the project in Cologne in 2018. The transdisciplinary project with Navid Razavi at KulturKubus is staged and curated by Lily McLeish.
As part of COLLUMINA V, an interdisciplinary theater media installation by Navid Razavi in cooperation with the acting school DER KELLER e.V. and director Lily McLeish will be shown at the KulturKubus, House of Architecture. The performance “Ghost in the Machine” will be shown at two different times in the evening, 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. (Registration required! Free tickets via Eventbrite).
As part of the light, art, and sound project COLLUMINA, an art education program is once again taking place with the support of the Rheinenergie Foundation in cooperation with the theater DER KELLER e.V. to teach light and media art at schools in Cologne. The art education program includes guided tours of the exhibitions, artist talks, and a work booklet for students, which is designed to provide in-depth insights into the topics of light, sound art, and new media.
The DER KELLER e.V. drama school is the most traditional private drama school in North Rhine-Westphalia and one of the oldest private schools for drama training in Germany. Students regularly participate in productions by the theater and its cooperation partners.
